Police seize drugs, cash and suspected stolen goods in Mission trafficking investigation
Police in Mission say a search warrant at a downtown home has led to the seizure of drugs, cash and a large amount of suspected stolen property.
The Mission RCMP say the investigation began after residents reported suspected drug trafficking at a residence on 1st Avenue west of Alder Street.
Officers executed a search warrant at the property on April 9, with assistance from the detachment’s crime reduction unit, and located substances believed to be methamphetamine, fentanyl and crack cocaine or carfentanil, along with scales and packaging materials.
Police say they also seized a large amount of cash and suspected stolen items, including retail clothing, liquor, tools and a drone. Investigators are working to identify the rightful owners of the recovered property.
One person found inside the home was detained at the time but has since been released pending further investigation.
Mounties say laboratory testing is required to confirm the substances and support any potential charges under federal drug laws. Investigators must also establish evidence linking an individual to trafficking activity, noting that simply being present in a location where drugs are found may not be sufficient grounds for charges.
Police say while they cannot guarantee drug activity will not resume at the property, the seizure represents a significant disruption to those involved. Officers add they will continue monitoring the location and may seek further warrants if necessary.
