Adult found dead after house fire in Grand River Falls, N.S.

Police in Nova Scotia say an adult has been found dead following a house fire in the community of Grand River Falls.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police say officers with Richmond County District responded to a report of a structure fire on Loch Lomond Road at about 6:55 a.m. on April 22.

Mounties say local fire services and emergency health services also attended, and upon arrival, crews found the home engulfed in flames and partially destroyed.

After the fire was brought under control, police say human remains were discovered inside the residence.

Investigators with Nova Scotia RCMP Forensic Identification Services, along with officials from the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service, attended the scene to assist with the investigation.

Police say that based on the evidence gathered so far, the fire is not believed to be criminal in nature.

The investigation is ongoing.
