Four injured, one shot in violent clash at Ludhiana wedding
A wedding celebration in Ludhiana turned violent early Tuesday morning, leaving four people seriously injured, including one man who was shot.
Police say the incident occurred around 3 a.m. near the Kochar Market area, where a dispute between two groups escalated into a violent confrontation during the समारोह.
According to Sub-Inspector Jasbir Singh, the altercation began over a minor issue but quickly spiralled into a physical clash. Three individuals were attacked with sharp-edged weapons and sustained serious injuries.
As the घायल victims were being taken to a nearby civil hospital, the opposing group allegedly intercepted them again near the facility, leading to further violence.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Dharminder Kumar said that approximately three rounds were fired during the second confrontation, striking a man identified as Dharminder in the leg.
Police say one of the injured remains in critical condition.
Investigators have indicated that the people involved are neighbours and that alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the escalation of the dispute.
Authorities also said the firearm used in the shooting may be licensed, though this has not yet been confirmed pending recovery of the weapon.
Police emphasized the incident is not related to gang activity and said efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest those involved.
