Four Doctors Booked in Death of Bodybuilder-Actor Varinder Singh Ghuman
Police in Amritsar have registered a case against four doctors at a private hospital in connection with the death of 41-year-old professional bodybuilder and actor Varinder Singh Ghuman.
Ghuman died in October 2025 during a surgical procedure, prompting an investigation into possible medical negligence. The accused doctors have been identified as Dr. Tapish Shukla, Dr. Alka Tiwari, Dr. Rajinder Kaur, and Dr. Arun Kumar Chopra.
The case was filed following the findings of a seven-member medical board formed under the supervision of the civil surgeon. The panel included specialists in orthopedics, cardiology, anesthesia, and forensic science, who conducted a detailed review of the circumstances surrounding Ghuman’s death.
According to the board’s report, there was a lack of transparency during treatment, and the patient’s family was not properly informed about complications that arose during the procedure. The report also pointed to violations of established medical protocols.
The board submitted its findings on February 26 to Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar. Acting on the report, police have registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Authorities say further investigation is ongoing and assured that strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible.
Ghuman’s untimely death had sparked widespread grief in both the sports and film industries, where he was a well-known figure.
