National Commission for Women Summons Nora Fatehi, Sanjay Dutt Over Objectionable Song
The National Commission for Women has summoned actors Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt along with others over alleged obscenity in the song “Sarke Chunari Teri Sarke.”
The controversy erupted after the song, featured in the upcoming Kannada film KD The Devil, was released on YouTube earlier this week. The commission stated that the content appears sexually suggestive, objectionable, and potentially in violation of provisions under Indian laws, including the IT Act and POCSO Act.
Singer Mangli has issued an apology, saying there was no intention to hurt sentiments and that a revised version of the song will be released soon. Meanwhile, lyricist Rakeeb Alam and producers Venkat K Narayan and Kiran Kumar have also been asked to appear before the commission on March 24 with relevant documents.
Separately, rapper Badshah has been summoned over his Haryanvi song “Tattiri.” Directors Mahi Sandhu and Joban Sandhu, along with producer Hiten, have been asked to appear before the commission on March 25.
Nora Fatehi clarified that she recorded the Kannada version of the song three years ago and had raised objections with the filmmakers upon hearing the Hindi version. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on April 30.
