Punjab Police in rural Amritsar has arrested three individuals, including an alleged AAP youth leader, and recovered 4.3 kilograms of heroin, a .30 bore pistol, four live cartridges, and an SUV from their possession.

The main accused has been identified as Lovepreet Singh from Kot Hirday Ram village. The other two arrested are Simarpreet Singh from the same village and Balwant Singh from Verka.

According to police, the arrests were made by Mehta police when the suspects were travelling in an SUV from Buttar Kalan village towards the Kathunangal area. Acting on a tip-off, police signaled the vehicle to stop, but the आरोपी attempted to flee. After a chase, the vehicle was intercepted and the trio was apprehended.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sohail Qasim Mir confirmed the recovery, adding that the weapon seized was also illegal.

Police officials stated that Lovepreet Singh is reportedly related to a woman sarpanch linked to the Aam Aadmi Party. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of  Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act , and further investigation is ongoing.
