Punjabi actor and singer Rupinder Singh Grewal, popularly known as Gippy Grewal, has reportedly received a death threat from Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar. According to sources, Brar allegedly called Grewal and warned him against ignoring his messages.

An alleged audio recording circulating on social media captures the caller saying, “Don’t ignore our messages, because messages can be ignored, but bullets cannot.” The caller also reportedly threatened to target Grewal’s residence in Mohali.

Reacting to the incident, Shiromani Akali Dal president and former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal questioned Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann over the state’s law and order situation.

Badal, in a post on X , claimed that Grewal had recently visited him at his native village Badal, after which the government allegedly withdrew the singer’s security. He stated that soon after the security cover was removed, gangsters began targeting him.

Criticizing the government, Badal alleged that law and order in Punjab has completely deteriorated and that security decisions are being made arbitrarily at the Chief Minister’s discretion. He also referenced the killing of Sidhu Moosewala, stating that a similar lapse—removal of security and its public disclosure—had led to the loss of a prominent artist.

Authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the threat.
