Two more arrested in Sarpanch murder case in Punjab

Two more key suspects in the murder case of Harbrinder Singh, the Sarpanch of Thathian Mahantan village affiliated with the Aam Aadmi Party, were injured in a police encounter and have been admitted to hospital.

SSP Surinder Lamba said police had been actively pursuing the suspects over the past several days. An operation was carried out under the leadership of SHO Chohla Sahib, with teams from Chohla Sahib and Harike police stations, along with SP (D) Riputapan Singh.

The suspects were spotted in the Mand area near Ghadka village. When police signaled them to stop, the accused allegedly opened fire on the police party. In the retaliatory action, both suspects were injured. They have been identified as Manpreet Singh of Varpal and Gurdev Singh of Khadoor Sahib. Police said both were directly involved in the murder of Sarpanch Harbrinder Singh.

The SSP added that a total of 11 people, including four main accused, have been arrested in connection with the case so far. An AK-47 rifle and a pistol were recovered from the injured suspects.
