Punjab CM says all Punjabis to return safely home from middle-East
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has expressed concern over Punjabis stranded in Arab countries amid the Iran-Israel conflict, stating that their safe return is his top priority.
In a Facebook post, Mann said he spoke over the phone with Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, who assured him that arrangements would be made for special flights to bring Punjabis back safely. The Chief Minister added that all necessary details have been shared with the Centre.
Mann also said he is deputing Cabinet Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh to coordinate with the Union minister regarding evacuation efforts. He urged the Centre to arrange special flights as a large number of Punjabis, including students, remain stranded in the region, causing anxiety among their families.
For assistance, the Punjab government has activated the NRI Wing 24/7 control room at 0172-2260042 and 0172-2260043, and a WhatsApp helpline at +91 94787 79112.
Reports indicate that families of several prominent industrialists, as well as relatives of Punjabi singer Ammy Virk, are also among those stranded.
