BC Opposition wants clarity on public safety, interference of Indian officials in
During a recent media scrum our Conservative Party of BC caucus members continued to urge the government to address public safety issues, particularly the duty to warn local British Columbians who feel endangered by interference from Indian officials.
Canadian national security officials have presented evidence suggesting that an Indian official, acting as a visa officer at the Indian consulate in Vancouver, misused his position to gather information on Hardeep Singh Nijjar. This information was passed on to an intelligence officer in New Delhi, who then sent it to the Bishnoi Gang to arrange Nijjar’s murder. We brought this matter to light during the Premier's visit to India, and it has come up again after the Liberal Prime Minister's trip.
Moninder Singh recently received a duty to warn for exercising his freedom of speech, while the Premier made his trip to India, downplaying reports from security agencies regarding foreign interference and transnational repression. This indicates a troubling prioritization of photo opportunities and trade deals over the safety and security of British Columbian Sikhs and all residents of the province.
The Conservative Caucus of BC stands firmly with our communities and will advocate for the safety, security, and prosperity of all British Columbians.
