Canada monitors situation in Middle-East closely
Minister of Foreign Affairs Anita Anand Monday said that Canada is closely following the developments in the Middle-East.
“The Government of Canada is closely following developments in the Middle East. We call on all parties to prioritize the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure, to return to negotiations, and to advance a diplomatic resolution to the crisis," the minister stated.
Stating further, the minister said,“Canada condemns the strikes carried out by Iran on civilian infrastructure across the Middle East, including the Gulf States. These attacks are a dangerous threat to regional stability and civilian safety. They represent an unacceptable escalation and a blatant attempt to further destabilize the region. Attacks that endanger civilians and civilian infrastructure are deeply concerning and must cease immediately.
“We have deployed surge consular support under our Standing Rapid Deployment Team to the surrounding region to help Canadians across the region including in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Israel, Jordan, Turkmenistan and Türkiye," she added.
