Punjab is likely to get a regular Director General of Police (DGP) after the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) asked the state government to send a penal of eligible officers. 

The state, which is facing a deteriorating law and order situation is without the regular DGP as the current DGP Gaurav Yadav was appointed as an acting police chief when the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) came to power in  the state in March 2022.
