Son kills father over land dispute in Punjab

A man had allegedly killed his father and seriously injured his mother and younger brother on the issue of land division in Punjab's Mansa district. Local police booked the accused on murder charges, but he was not arrested yet.

According to the information the accused, Rai Singh had dispute with his father Gurjant Singh (65), a resident of Dhanpura village regarding the division of their ancestral land. On Tuesday, while Gurjant Singh was present in his home, the accused again had a quarrel with him and attacked the victim with a sharp edged weapon killing him on the spot.

When Gurjant's wife and son tried to rescue him, the accused also attacked them and left them seriously injured.

The in-charge of Bareta police post, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mela Singh said that a case had been registered and the hunt was on to nab the accused.
