CBI gets prosecution sanction against DIG Bhullar
The Home Department gave the prosecution sanction to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against Punjab Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Harcharan Singh Bhullar. The trial will formally start against the officer under the relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.
Bhullar was arrested last year by the CBI in connection with a corruption case and the agency also recorded around Rs. 7 crore cash during the raids. A scrap dealer lodged a complaint against Bhullar alleging that the officer was demanding bribe from him to favour him in a case.
