The district court in Bathinda declared Amritpal Singh Mehron a Proclaimed Offender (PO) in connection with Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Bhabi. The court summoned Mehron multiple times, but he failed to appear in the court following which the court declared him a PO.

Mehron is suspected to be in UAE where he allegedly fled after the murder. Police had already arrested Jaspreet Singh and Nimarpreet Singh in this case while Mehron and Ranjeet Singh are on the run.
