Traffic pangs: Truck crash leaves hundreds of commuters stranded on Alex Fraser bridge
Hundreds of commuters struck on Alex Fraser bridge between Delta and Richmond Tuesday morning after a semi-truck hit the median. Many people shared their hassle with Sher-e-Punjab who said that it took hours for them to come out of the jam.
Usually, it takes around 25 to 30 minutes to reach to Richmond but on Tuesday the travelling extended up to 1.30 hours.
Aashia Punjabi, a Radio Jockey who works in Richmond told Sher-e-Punjab that she takes bus from Surrey to reach to her office which takes around 20 minutes but on Tuesday it took 1.30 hours to reach her office.
"There was a crash on Alex Fraser bridge due to which the traffic was backed up, I could see the long queues on both sides of the road as vehicles were stranded," she added.
Another commuters who go to his office from Surrey and use the same route said that it has become a routine for them to face the long traffic jams everyday on the same location.
"It seems there is no solution to this long standing problem," he added.
The Alex Fraser is a vital link for connection Surrey, Delta with Richmond.
However, it was said that Northbound lanes were fully reopened by 7: 20 am.
