Russia Launches Record Missile Strikes on Ukraine’s Energy Infrastructure
Many people are stranded without heat and electricity in Ukraine after the deadly attacks by Russia. President Volodymyr Zelensky said that large numbers of missiles and drones targeted the energy sector and civilian heating infrastructure. The strikes hit Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipro, where temperature is around -20°C, and people are struggling in open areas without heat as buildings are damaged due to air strikes.
Zelensky accused Russia of targeting civilians, while discussions are scheduled between both the countries later this week. NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte urged member countries to provide needed equipment including missiles to Ukraine.
People are left behind with no access to basic necessities and are relying on blankets and coats in this low temperature. Crew members are working to restore the power system.
