Shots fired after shop owner refused to pay extortion

Two unidentified men fired gunshots at a cloth shop in Fatehabad in Khadoor Sahib Sub-Division late Monday evening, sending fear among the business community. Nobody was injured in the incident but the firing incident is suspected to be linked to extortion. The shop owner Mohan Singh alleged that a caller had demanded Rs. 50 lakh from him last week and he refused to pay.

“I was getting the threatening calls after I refused to pay the money,” Mohan Singh said.

Senior Police officials, including the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Surinder Lambha reached the spot and assured that all the culprits involved in the crime will be arrested soon.
