Donald Trump Hints at India Visit Next Year, Calls PM Modi a ‘Great Friend’:Sources
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has hinted he may visit India next
year, calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “great man” and “a friend
of mine.” Speaking about U.S.–India relations, Trump said the
partnership is “going very well,” signalling optimism for deeper
engagement between the two nations.
His remarks come amid ongoing trade discussions and U.S. scrutiny
of India’s energy ties with Russia. Trump claimed Modi had “largely
stopped buying from Russia,” while New Delhi has maintained that its
energy decisions are driven by national interests. Though the visit is
not confirmed, Trump said, “It could be, yes,” leaving the door open for
a potential high-profile trip in 2026.
