Typhoon Kalmaegi Hits Vietnam After Wrecking the Philippines
Typhoon Kalmaegi, called Tino in Vietnam, made landfall on Thursday
with winds up to 92 mph, damaging homes and flooding several
provinces like Dak Lak and Gia Lai. Over 260,000 soldiers have been
deployed to help with rescue and relief work.
The storm earlier devastated the Philippines, killing at least 114
people and flooding entire towns, especially in Cebu. Thousands of
families lost their homes and are now taking shelter in evacuation
centres.
Vietnam, already facing record rains, has shut down several airports
and warned of heavy floods and landslides. Prime Minister Pham
Minh Chinh has ordered rescue teams to ensure food, water, and
shelter reach all affected people. Pic courtesy: Wikimedia Commons
