The 556th birth anniversary of first Sikh Master Guru Nanak Dev was celebrated with fervour
across the globe Tuesday. Special religious programmes were held in the gurudwaras across
the world. Hundreds of pilgrims paid obeisance at Nankana Sahib in Pakistan- the birth place of
Guru Nanak. Around 2100 pilgrims also went to Nankana Sahib from India to attend the
religious ceremonies and to pay the obeisance. The religious leaders across the world also
urged the people to follow the teachings of Guru Nanak. A huge nagar kirtan (religious
progression) was also held in Sultanpur Lodhi in India where Guru Nanak spent younger years
of his life.
