On March 17, 2025, newly appointed Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne, chaired his first G7 virtual Finance Ministers’ Meeting.
This was Minister Champagne’s first discussion with his counterparts regarding common issues such as global trade, competitiveness, and economic growth.
The meeting was an important precursor to the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting in May in Banff, Alberta, and again at the G7 Leaders’ Summit in June in Kananaskis, Alberta, both being held under Canada’s G7 Presidency.
