Delay in release

Earlier, Sidhu’s release was delayed. His release was said to be 11 am and then at 3 pm but he was released at around 6 pm. His son Karan Sidhu had alleged that he was being harassed unnecessarily in the name of paperwork. Several times since morning, it has been said that he will be released in an hour. The release is being delayed due to the huge crowd of supporters.

Former MLA Navtej Cheema said the state government was deliberately delaying his release.

Former National Congress spokesperson Gautam Seth, who arrived in Patiala, said Congress leader K C Venugopal has asked for cancellation of state-level programmes today. He has ordered all Congress leaders to reach Patiala Jail to welcome Navjot Singh Sidhu.
