Chandigarh: The Vigilance Bureau has also cracked down on former Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, his younger brother and Mohali Mayor Amarjeet Singh Jeeti Sidhu in a disproportionate assets case. Vigilance questioned Jeeti Sidhu for about seven hours about his assets and business.
He will now be questioned again on May 25 by the vigilance. The vigilance has also given a proforma of questions, which he has been asked to furnish to the authorities.
Sidhu, however, said termed a political vendetta by the ruling government against the opposition.
Mohali Municipal Corporation Mayor Amarjeet Singh Jeeti Sidhu reached the vigilance bureau office in Sector-68 around 11 am. After this, the Special Team constituted by the Vigilance Bureau questioned him. According to sources, most of the queries were related to his property and liquor business.
Along with this, questions were also answered about illegal mining and development works in the corporation. Vigilance has made all the complaints that have been made against him by various people as part of this investigation.
Amarjeet Singh Jeeti Sidhu said that whatever questions were asked to him, he has answered most of the questions. For the questions for which he did not have answers, he has sought time from the Vigilance Bureau team.
He said that he has documents of his property and all other things. His elder brother, former health minister and BJP leader Balbir Singh Sidhu, was questioned on April 23 and was summoned again on May 5. But he sought more time to collect the documents.
