New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has challenged his arrest and the manner of CBI investigation in the liquor scam case in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
On behalf of Manish Sisodia, Abhishek Manu Singhvi argued for the apex court to hear the petition at the earliest.
On this, Singhvi cited the Supreme Court’s decision in the Vinod Dua case. After this, Chief Justice Chandrachud said that he will hear the case at 3:50 pm.
Sisodia said that when he was cooperating in the CBI investigation, why was he arrested. Manish Sisodia was on Monday sent to five-day Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) custody by a special court.
The probe agency had produced the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader before a special court and sought his custody for five days. Subsequently, Special Judge M.K. Nagpal sent Sisodia to CBI custody till March 4.
The judge had said that though the accused had joined the investigation on the first two occasions in the case, it was also observed that they could not satisfactorily answer most of the questions raised during the investigation and interrogation.
He said Sisodia has failed to give proper explanation regarding the incriminating evidence allegedly found against him during the investigation conducted so far.
