New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in connection with the excise policy scam. During the nearly eight-hour-long questioning, Sisodia had been evading answering questions and some of the answers given by him were not satisfactory, the officials said.

He will be produced in the court on Monday afternoon. Aam Aadmi Party will also hold a nationalwide protest against Sisodia’s arrest.

Officials of the Anti-Corruption Branch of the CBI had asked questions about various aspects of the excise policy, their links with Dinesh Arora and other accused and details of exchange of messages over phones. The CBI investigators were not satisfied with the replies given by Sisodia.

Sisodia was not cooperating in the investigation and was refusing to come clean on important points, due to which he has been arrested, he said. Before reaching the CBI office, Sisodia had expressed apprehension that he might be arrested.

Talking to reporters before appearing before the CBI for questioning, Sisodia said he was not afraid of going to jail in a case of “false allegations”.

Stating that he would fully cooperate in the investigation, Sisodia said the love of lakhs of children and crores of countrymen is with him. “Even if I have to go to jail for a few months, I don’t care. We are followers of Bhagat Singh. Bhagat Singh was martyred for the country. If I have to go to jail for false charges, it is a very small thing.” Sisodia reached the CBI office after paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat.
