A major section of the flood-damaged Trans-Canada Highway has reopened in British Columbia.

The opening will help connect the Lower Mainland to the province’s Interior.

Transportation Minister Rob Fleming says this will help relieve some congestion on Highway 7 and reconnect some of the province’s supply chain.

But he adds the damage to the Coquihalla  Highway will require much more work before it is able to reopen.
