Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former president Rahul Gandhi.
In the meeting, Nitish Kumar held detailed discussions with the two leaders on stepping up efforts for opposition unity for next year’s Lok Sabha elections and the roadmap ahead.
The idea behind Nitish Kumar’s meeting with opposition leaders is to strengthen opposition unity in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It is being told that Nitish Kumar is going to hold a meeting soon in Patna regarding opposition unity.
Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, Akhilesh Yadav, Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, Mallikarjun Kharge from Congress, prominent leaders of the Left will attend this meeting. This meeting will clear a picture of opposition unity for the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
After a meeting with Nitish Kumar on Monday, Kharge said that the current political situation was discussed in today’s meeting and the process of giving a new direction to the country has been taken forward.
He tweeted, “Now the country will unite, ‘Strengthening democracy’ is our message! Rahul Gandhi ji and I discussed the current political situation with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today and took forward the process of giving a new direction to the country.”
Congress general secretary KC Venugopal and Janata Dal (United) national president Lalan Singh, Bihar minister Sanjay Jha were present at the meeting that lasted for over an hour at Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence at 10 Rajaji Marg.
Earlier, Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav was also scheduled to attend the meeting, but due to some reasons he could not attend.
