Toronto: A listeria outbreak linked to plant-based milk products has resulted in the recall of 18 items from Silk and Great Value brands. Produced by Joriki Inc. in Pickering, Ont., these products include almond, oat, cashew, and coconut-based milks. The recall, issued on July 8, follows 18 confirmed cases of listeriosis, including two deaths and 13 hospitalizations. The affected production line has been shut down for investigation. Symptoms of listeriosis can appear between 3 and 70 days after exposure and include fever, nausea, and muscle aches. Individuals with recalled products should discard them or return them to the store and consult a doctor if symptoms arise.
