Ottawa: Some Liberal MPs are urging Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to step down, citing concerns about the party’s declining popularity and its chances in the next election. A group of 24 MPs signed a document calling for his resignation before October 28, as national polls show the Conservatives leading by 19 points.
In response, Trudeau stated that the party is “strong and united” and that he will take time to reflect but has no immediate plans to step down. Immigration Minister Marc Miller, a close ally of Trudeau, dismissed the push as “garbage” and said the party should focus on defeating Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre, rather than internal divisions.
