Jalandhar: The victim families of Latifpura have turned down the district administration’s offer to take a multi-storey house in Bibi Bhani complex.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Varinderpal Singh Bajwa and DCP Jagmohan Singh went to Latifpura in the evening and held talks with the rehabilitation committee and offered a flat in Bibi Bhani complex.

Officials from the administration went to the site of the demolition and held a meeting with the 14-member committee formed for rehabilitation. The committee leaders turned down the government’s offer to give flats at another place, saying the victims’ families should be settled at the same site.

The meeting was attended by Latifpura Rehabilitation Morcha Committee leader Kashmir Singh Ghugshor, Dr. Gurdeep Singh Bhandal, and others.

Meanwhile, the morcha organised by the Latifpura Rehabilitation Committee, an umbrella body of farm labour organisations and the victims’ families, has entered its ninth day. Preparations are being made by the committee for the protest to be held in the city on December 20.

The committee also appealed to all the organizations to join the protest on December 20 and be a part of the committee for a joint struggle.
