Chandigarh: Amritpal Singh, a pro-Khalistan activist, is lodged in Assam’s Dibrugarh jail along with eight of his associates, said that they are in ‘chardi kalan’.
The family members met Amritpal and his eight aides with the help of the legal wing of the SGPC, following Amritpal’s arrest on April 23 after a 37-day hunt.
After the meeting, the family members looked happy and expressed satisfaction over the jail arrangements.
Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, a member of the Shiromani Committee, had taken their family from Amritsar to Assam by air. Sialka said that earlier permission was taken to meet the the Sikh youth lodged in Dibrugarh jail, according to which arrangements have been made for the meeting.
According to the counsel for Daljit Singh Kalsi, an accused in the case, has challenged the NSA imposed on Amritpal and his associates in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. He said that the SGPC will also file a case in the High Court to abolish the NSA.
