Jalandhar: A case has been registered against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Dalbir Singh Tong, who was roaming in Shahkot in violation to Model Code Of conduct norms. He was detained for four hours by the police and later released on the bail.

Tong was caught roaming around by Congress MLA from Shahkot Hardev Singh Laddi in the morning and locked in a room, after which the police reached the spot and rescued him and took him to the police station.

The action was taken on the orders of the Election Commission, after Congress candidate Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary filed a complaint in this regard.

Police enter AAP in-charge’s office

CRPF has been deployed to ensure that there is no obstruction in the election process. Police are checking at many booths so that there is no outsider in the district.

Similarly, the police checked the office of Aam Aadmi Party leader Dinesh Dhall in Dhann Mohalla. During this time, the police checked the ID cards of all the people sitting in the office. During the checking, Dinesh Dhall also had an argument with the police.

Meanwhile, When a complaint about the presence of outside leaders sitting at polling booths in the by-election reached the Election Commission, officials pulled up police. Later, Jalandhar rural police made an announcement in the villages in the afternoon and asked outsiders to immediately leave the area.

Police urged people that if someone is obstructing the voting process or luring voters, filed a complain about it and miscreants will be arrested immediately and legal action will be taken against them as per the law.
