Jaipur: The four death row convicts in the Jaipur bomb blast case have been acquitted on Wednesday. The Jaipur High Court has dismissed the death references of the four convicts.
The trial court had sentenced the four convicts to death. The High Court has acquitted all the four, rejecting all the evidence. After the High Court’s decision, Syed Ali, the lawyer of the four convicts, said that this is a victory of justice. For the last 16 years, we were fighting for justice. Now it is news of relief for us.
The High Court has given this verdict by accepting 28 appeals on Wednesday. A bench of Justices Pankaj Bhandari and Sameer Jain said, “The investigating officer has no legal knowledge. Therefore, the DGP has been asked to take action against him.”
In 2019, the trial court had convicted four accused In the Jaipur bomb blast case Mohammad Saif, Saifur Rahman, Sarwar Azmi and Mohammad Salman.
The court had held the accused guilty under different sections under UAPA. One of the accused was also acquitted. There were a total of 5 accused in this case.
While pronouncing the sentence, the trial court had said that there was a ‘Jihadi mentality’ behind the blast. This mentality did not stop here. After this, explosions were also carried out in Ahmedabad and Delhi. The court had found the four guilty under murder, sedition and the Explosives Act.
