New Delhi: The Oscar Awards 2023 have been announced and for the first time India won two awards simultaneously.

The Elephant Whisperers won in the short documentary category, while RRR movie’s song won an Oscar in the Best Original Song category.

According to the information, in the Best Original Song category, RRR’s song Natu-Natu competed with Tell It Like a Woman’s Applause, Top Gun: Maverick’s Hold My Hand, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Lift My Up and Everything Everywhere All at Once’s This Is A Life.

Guneet Monga, producer of The Elephant Whisperers, shared a picture of the event and said, “This night is historic because this is the first Oscar ever for an Indian production.”

Meanwhile, Everything Everywhere All At Once won five Oscars including Best movie and Best Director for the Daniels.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the winners and wrote in a tweet, “Exceptional! The popularity of ‘Naatu Naatu’ is global. It will be a song that will be remembered for years to come. Congratulations to @mmkeeravaani, @boselyricist and the entire team for this prestigious honour. India is elated and proud. #Oscars.”

He further said, Congratulations to @EarthSpectrum, @guneetm and the entire team of ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ for this honour. Their work wonderfully highlights the importance of sustainable development and living in harmony with nature. #Oscars.
