Richmond: The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has identified the victim of a shooting that happened in Richmon on Thursday evening.

The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Ravinder Samra of Richmond.

“Mr. Samra was known to police and we believe this was a targeted shooting associated with the BC Gang Conflict,” said IHIT spokesperson Corporal Sukhi Dhesi.

IHIT investigators are asking for any witnesses, dashcam or CCTV footage from the area of the 8000-block of Minler Road from July 27 between 2 pm and 6 pm.

“Anyone in the area of the12000 block of Blundell Road from July 27 between 5 pm and 6 pm, with dashcam or CCTV footage has been urged to contact IHIT immediately,” said IHIT.

On Thursday at 5:45 pm, Richmond RCMP received multiple reports of shots fired in the 8000 block of Minler Road.

Frontline officers attended and located a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

“Despite all efforts to revive the victim, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” said the IHIT.

A short time later, a vehicle was found engulfed in flames in the 12000-block of Blundell Road. IHIT said investigators believe this vehicle is associated with the shooting.
