Chandigarh: In a case of honour killing, a 25-year-old girl and 30-year-old youth has been murdered reportedly by girl’s family at Village Thikriwal in Barnala, police said on Tuesday.
According to the information, youth’s body was found outside the house, while the body of the woman was recovered from the house.
Deceased have been identified as Manpreet Kaur (25) and Gurdeep Singh (30).
On the statement of the deceased’s brother, the police have registered a case against two persons.
Barnala DSP Satbir Singh said that a case of double murder has come to light in Thikriwala village of Barnala on Monday night. Preliminary investigation revealed that youth and woman was strangulated to death and the young was stabbed to death with a sharp weapon.
Investigation has revealed that both were in a relationship for a long time. On Monday night, Gurdeep came to meet Manpreet in her house but her family caught him and later they both were killed. The further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the bodies have been sent to Barnala Government Hospital for post-mortem.
