Chandigarh: The Punjab High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the Punjab government for cancelling the contract of a mining site in Hoshiarpur against the rules. It has also ordered to give this amount to the petitioner company within 1 week.

A division bench of Justices AG Masih and Alok Jain passed the order while disposing of a petition filed by Prime Vision Industries Pvt Ltd.

The High Court said that earlier also one such case had come up for hearing. During that time, the High Court had warned the Punjab government to follow the rules before doing so in future, but the High Court has shown strictness on the Punjab government doing so again. However, the Punjab government has mistakenly accepted the issuance of these orders and withdrew them.

During that time, the High Court had warned the state government. As a result, the High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the government and ordered the payment of the amount this time.

In the petition filed by the company in the High Court, it was told that the Punjab government had contacted by issuing an order on September 23, but when the matter reached the High Court, the government withdrew the order on October 26.
