Surrey: The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) on Wednesday held a press conference in connection with the homicide of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was shot in the parking lot of Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in Surrey on Sunday.

Speaking to reporters, Sgt. Timothy Pierotti of IHIT said through evidence and speaking with witnesses, they have learned that two suspects described as heavier set males were wearing face coverings and fled the scene on foot southbound on 122 Street through Cougar Creek Park.

“It’s believed that the suspects may have had a vehicle waiting for them in the area of 121 Street and 68 Avenue. It is believed the suspects and the vehicle may have been in that area in the hour before the homicide,” said Sgt. Pierotti.

He called on the witnesses to contact investigators if they have witnessed anything or dash cam footage related to the incident.

“Vehicles such as Teslas have excellent cameras that are capable of recording movements in their surrounding area, even if the vehicle is turned off and no one is inside,” he added.

IHIT confirmed that no arrests have been made at this time.
