Imphal: Violence has erupted again in Manipur’s capital Imphal. According to the reports of news reports, curfew has been imposed due to arson in many places on Monday.

According to the information, a scuffle broke out between the Maitai and Kuki communities over a place in a local market in New Chekon area of the capital Imphal, police said on Sunday. According to the report, the miscreants also set some empty houses on fire.

Army and paramilitary forces have been deployed to control the situation.

Manipur has been witnessing violence and tension for several days over the Maitai reservation dispute. After a few days of peace, violence erupted again on Monday.

By May 15, the death toll in the violence had risen to 73. The rioters had set fire to several houses here.

Earlier on May 3, violence broke out in Torbang area of Churachandpur district of Manipur. On May 4, the situation here became uncontrollable. The state government had ordered the miscreants to be shot dead. At the same time, the army was also called for security.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured action against those involved in the violence. He has met representatives of both communities.
