Chandigarh: The Vigilance Bureau has summoned two former ministers Gurpreet Singh Kangar and Balbir Singh Sidhu again. The two had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party recently. The Vigilance Range Bathinda has summoned former Revenue Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar and asked him to appear on May 31, who recently underwent a knee surgery.
Kangar had taken a one-and-a-half month extension from the Vigilance due to the operation. When vigilance range officials noticed a few days ago that Kangar had attended the Sangrur meeting of the BJP’s executive committee, the officials speculated that he was recovering now, officials said.
The vigilance had given Kangar a proforma containing the property on the previous appearance which Kangar has to submit to the agency. Through this proforma, Kangar will reveal his assets details.
Meanwhile, sources said, the Vigilance has also prepared a list of reputed, benami properties with which the list submitted by Kangar will be matched. It may be recalled that the Vigilance Range Bathinda had summoned the former minister on April 17, but Kangar had sent the medical certificate on this day.
According to the medical certificate issued by Fortis Hospital Mohali, Kangar underwent surgery on April 8 and both knees were replaced and Kangar was discharged from the hospital on April 13.
The Vigilance Mohali has also summoned former minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on June 2. Sidhu is also to be questioned in the case of disproportionate income.
Sources said that former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi may also be summoned in the first week of June. The vigilance had also given a proforma containing details of the property to Channi on the last appearance, for which Channi had sought an extension from the agency.
Recently, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has accused former Chief Minister Channi by quoting a cricketer, the matter has worsened. Channi has been given an ultimatum by the Chief Minister till 2 pm on May 31 to disclose details pertaining to the matter.
