Chandigarh: Former Punjab Special Chief Secretary KBS Sidhu today failed to appear before the Vigilance Bureau in connection with a multi-crore irrigation scam case.
Sidhu, in his reply to vigilance, said he could not join the probe due to being given a very short notice for appearance. He said that he got summons from the vigilance on WhatsApp last night.
He appealed to the Vigilance to extend the time of his interrogation. Citing ongoing application of his case in the High Court, he sought details from the agency related to case he was summoned, officials said.
Rs 1200 crore irrigation scam probe
Earlier, the Punjab Vigilance had summoned KBS Sidhu to the Vigilance Office at 10 am today to join the investigation. Sidhu is to be questioned in connection with the Rs 1,200-crore irrigation scam during the SAD-BJP government.
For this, summons were sent to him again and he was called for questioning. Three former IAS officers were reportedly involved in the scam.
Earlier, vigilance had questioned former IAS Kahan Singh Pannu and former SAD minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon. KBS Sidhu was also summoned for questioning, but he approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court against it.
He said the investigation into the case has already been completed. Also, the challan has also been presented in the Mohali court.
