Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday granted interim bail to former minister Sunder Sham Arora, who has been in jail for the last five months.
The former minister was caught by vigilance for allegedly paying a bribe of Rs 50 lakh. After this, the vigilance had filed a case against Arora in the industrial plot scam during custody.
Former Congress industries minister Sham Sunder Arora was arrested on October 16, 2022, for allegedly bribing assistant inspector general (AIG) of Punjab Vigilance Bureau to the tune of Rs 50 lakh.
He had offered Rs 1 crore to the AIG to get his name removed from the disproportionate assets case.
As the first installment, he had reached the officer with Rs 50 lakh, when the vigilance caught him. During this time, he was in jail, on Thursday he got bail from the High Court.
