Chandigarh: Former Shiromani Akali Dal MLA Amarpal Singh Bony Ajnala and two others joined the BJP on Wednesday along with two other leaders. Ajnala had recently quit the Akali Dal. It is being told that he was angry with Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inducted the former Akali Dal MLA into the party.
Ajnala resigned from the primary membership of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Saturday amid a rift with its key leader Bikram Singh Majithia. Before submitting his resignation to SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal, Bony held a meeting with his supporters at Ajnala.
Addressing his supporters, he had asked them to give him suggestions on his next step.
The move came days after the party appointed Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee member Jodh Singh Samra as the in-charge of Ajnala in his place.
“I have decided to resign from the primary membership and other responsibilities of the party as everything is not going well in the party under your leadership, those who betrayed the party are being appointed to in-charge and other posts,” Ajnala wrote in his resignation letter to SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.
