Rupnagar: Vigilance Bureau has seized the Innova Crista car of former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amarjit Singh Sandoa in Punjab. It was allegedly bought with the corruption money in the forest scam.
Now vigilance is planning to detain former MLA in this case.
However, Sandoa has clarified that he had given this car to his father-in-law for use. He knew nothing about this scam. Opposition is trying to frame in a false case.
He has taken up this matter with CM Bhagwant Mann. In the last assembly elections, Sandoa was the only MLA who was not again given a ticket by AAP.
According to the information, vigilance has registered an FIR at Nurpur Bedi Police Station against the Bhinder brothers who gave this vehicle.
Vigilance had exposed the scam of selling forest department land in Ropar at a rate ten times higher than the collector rate two months ago. The investigation revealed that the Innova Crysta vehicle used by former MLA Sandoa for the last one year was bought with fraudulent money. This car was bought by a relative of Sandoa which he had been using for about a year.
Officials said that when the Vigilance Bureau checked the bank accounts, it came to know that Bhinder Brothers, named in this scam, had deposited Rs 2 crore in the account of a Jalandhar woman. The woman deposited some of this amount in the account of her husband Barinder Kumar. Barinder transferred Rs 19 lakh to a car dealer’s account on 16 October 2020 and the Innova Crysta was bought.
The car was registered in the name of Mohan Singh of village Ghadaspur. Mohan Singh is the father-in-law of former AAP MLA Sandoa. Sources said that the vigilance team can detain Sandoa for further investigation.
