Ottawa: Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly is calling the situation in the Gaza Strip unacceptable, warning the United Nations may have to pause aid to Palestinian civilians.
While not mentioning a ceasefire, Joly said in a statement posted to her social media profile that civilians must be protected
with enough food, fuel and water allowed to get into Gaza so life-saving work can continue.
As of Monday, Global Affairs Canada said it was in touch with more than 250 people with ties to Canada still in the Gaza Strip,
where Israeli forces and Hamas militants continue to engage in fierce battle.
The war in Gaza began last month when Hamas launched a deadly incursion into southern Israel that killed 12-hundred Israelis and took hundreds of hostages.
