Chandigarh: Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a fast unto death in Faridkot, Punjab, has ended his protest after Agriculture Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal tendered an apology for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s remarks against farmers.
CM last week said that it has become a habit of farmers of organising protests, blocking roads and causing nuisance to common people. This is a bad culture. This statement has offended the farmers.

The agriculture minister’s meeting with the farmers lasted for about one-and-a-half hours. The government has called a meeting with farmer unions in Chandigarh on December 16 to press for some demands. After this, farmer leader Dallewal ended his hunger strike by drinking juice from the hand of Agriculture Minister Dhaliwal.
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said Jagjit Singh Dallewal ended his death by drinking juice, the agriculture minister said. He said that AAP’s Mann government is a pro-farmers, labourers and common people’s government. He said that Bhagwant Mann is the first CM of Punjab, whose intention and policy are not wrong. Minister Dhaliwal said that CM Bhagwant Mann has agreed to some demands in the past and all will be fulfilled.
