Dhaka: At least 15 people were killed and over 100 others injured in an explosion in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka on Tuesday evening, police said.

The blast took place in a multi-storey building in Dhaka’s Gulistan area.

Due to this explosion, there is an atmosphere of panic in the entire area. Relief and rescue operations are going on at the spot.

The number of dead may increase. There is no official statement about the cause of the blast yet.

Three floors of a 7-storey building have been damaged in the blast in Siddique Bazar. Some nearby buildings were also damaged. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.

According to local media reports, the blast took place at 4:50 pm on Tuesday. Several fire tenders have been rushed to the spot after the blast. According to police, the injured have been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Several people are feared trapped in the basement of the building. A bomb disposal squad of the Rapid Action Battalion has been rushed to the spot to inspect the building.
