Mumbai: The Election Commission of Maharashtra has given Shiv Sena’s name and arrow and bow symbol to Uddhav Thackeray’s rival Eknath Shinde.

A day later, on Saturday, former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray launched a sharp attack on the Election Commission. “The Election Commission is a slave to PM Narendra Modi. It has done something that has never happened before.”

Uddhav Thackeray urged his supporters to be patient and prepare for the next elections.

Significantly, elections to Mumbai’s urban body BMC are going to be held soon. Uddhav Thackeray addressed a large crowd. Party workers held a show of strength outside the Thackeray family’s house Matoshree.

Uddhav Thackeray opened the sunroof of his car and stood outside. By addressing the people in this manner, he followed the tradition of his father Bal Thackeray.

Bal Thackeray used to address followers from the roof of his car in the early days of the party.

Hitting out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Thackeray said the party’s election symbol has been “stolen” and the “thief” needs to be taught a lesson.
