Chandigarh: Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has expressed concern over the conversion of Sri Guru Nanak Dev’s gurdwara into a Buddhist shrine in Arunachal Pradesh. Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said that once again there has been a desperate attempt to destroy the shrine of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Jathedar further said that the government there also gets involved in this work under the pressure of the local people, but the Government of India should investigate who is instigating the local people. He also demanded that the Government of India immediately restore the shrine of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Jathedar also said that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) should also immediately send a team to Arunachal Pradesh to investigate the matter.
The Jathedar also expressed apprehension that the Government of India needs to seriously investigate whether anything like this is being done to frustrate the Sikh youth who are fighting on the border with China.
The Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib said that the Sikh youth in the Indian Army are responding well to the challenge being raised by China, efforts are being made to destroy the symbols and historical places of the Sikh community in the eastern states in India, which is a matter of great concern. The government should conduct a in-depth investigation into it.
The Jathedar said that there has been a dispute over a settlement in Shillong for a long time, in which some miscreants are inciting the local people towards the Sikhs, the shrine of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji has also been destroyed at Dang Marg, where the local people are also being incited towards the Sikhs.
